Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Serengeti National Park
Your Anthill Safaris adventure begins at 7:00 am with breakfast at your Arusha hotel. After a brief introduction with your guide, you board your safari vehicle and set off toward Serengeti National Park. The drive takes approximately three hours and passes through some of northern Tanzania’s most dramatic scenery.
Leaving Arusha, the road climbs steadily into the crater highlands. You pause to take in the sweeping views of the Maasai escarpment and Lake Manyara National Park stretching below. Further along, the Ngorongoro Crater rim reveals one of Africa’s most iconic landscapes. Your guide shares fascinating stories as the scenery shifts from highland forest to open plain.
Continuing westward, the Serengeti gradually unfolds before you. Its name means endless plain in Maasai, and that first view never disappoints. You collect a packed lunch before entering the park and beginning your first game drive.
The Serengeti supports over two million wildebeest alongside lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, buffalo, zebras, and giraffes. From January to April, the calving season brings intense predator activity to the southern plains. Smaller animals like mongooses, baboons, and honey badgers appear throughout every drive, while over 500 bird species fill the skies above.
As the afternoon cools, your game drive moves toward the centre of the park, where permanent water sources draw large concentrations of wildlife. You return to your lodge for dinner and overnight rest.
Meals included: Lunch and dinner.
Day 2: Full Day Game Drives in the Serengeti
Your guide wakes you at 6:00 am for an early breakfast and a packed lunch before heading out for the morning game drive. Early morning is one of the most rewarding times to be out in the Serengeti. Predators are still active, the light is extraordinary, and the plains feel alive in every direction. Lions move back from overnight hunts, cheetahs scan the grasslands for prey, and herds of zebra and wildebeest begin their daily grazing routines.
You spend the morning driving through the park, following wildlife sightings and exploring different areas with your guide’s expert direction. Anthill Safaris guides read the bush with genuine skill, positioning the vehicle for the best possible views while always keeping your comfort and safety in mind.
At midday, you stop for a picnic lunch in the park, surrounded by the landscape and sounds of the Serengeti. The afternoon game drive continues the exploration, pushing into new areas and following the movement of the herds. Every hour in the Serengeti brings something different, and your guide ensures you make the most of every moment. You return to the lodge as the sun sets for dinner and an overnight stay.
Meals included: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Day 3: Morning Game Drives and Return to Arusha
The final morning begins again at 6:00 am with breakfast and packed lunches before one last drive into the Serengeti. Morning game drives in the park consistently deliver some of the most dramatic wildlife sightings of the entire trip. Your guide takes you through the areas that have shown the most activity during your stay, maximising your chances of a memorable final encounter.
You drive until midday, enjoying your last picnic lunch inside the park before beginning the return journey to Arusha. The drive back retraces the spectacular highland route, giving you a final look at the Ngorongoro Crater rim and the sweeping escarpment views. You arrive in Arusha in the late afternoon, where Anthill Safaris drops you at your hotel or directly at the airport, depending on your departure time.
Meals included: Breakfast and lunch.
