Day 1: Kampala to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Your adventure begins right after breakfast in Kampala. First, your Anthill Safaris guide briefs you on everything you need to know before departure. Then, you set off along the Kampala–Masaka–Mbarara route toward Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Along the way, your first stop is the Uganda Equator crossing, where you step out, take photos, and enjoy standing on the equator line. Next, you head to the Igongo Cultural Center for a delicious lunch and a quick look into the history and traditions of western Uganda.

After lunch, you drive through Ishaka toward the park. As you get closer, the scenery changes beautifully. Rift valley escarpments, tea plantations, and dense woodlands line the road, treating you to stunning views throughout the drive.

You arrive at the park in the late afternoon. Almost immediately, your guide spots elephants grazing nearby, buffalo moving in herds, warthogs trotting across open ground, and colorful birds filling the sky. It is an exciting first taste of what lies ahead. Finally, you check into your lodge for dinner and a good night’s rest.

Day 2: Game Drive and Boat Cruise

Today is the most exciting day of your safari. You start the morning with a hot cup of tea or coffee before heading out for a thrilling game drive along the Kasenyi trail.

This two-to-three-hour drive takes you deep into the park’s open savannas in a comfortable 4×4 vehicle with a pop-up roof. The roof gives you a clear, open view of the wildlife all around you. Your guide’s sharp eyes and solid knowledge help you spot as many animals as possible. Expect close encounters with elephants, lions, Uganda kobs, warthogs, buffaloes, leopards, and a wide variety of birds. Every turn along the trail brings something new and exciting.

After the game drive, you return to your lodge for lunch and some rest. In the afternoon, Anthill Safaris takes you on a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel. This natural waterway stretches about 45 kilometers, connecting Lake Edward and Lake George.

During the three to four-hour cruise, you watch hippos wallowing in the water, crocodiles resting in the sun, and water birds feeding along the banks. It is peaceful yet wildly exciting. Finally, you return to your lodge for dinner and a restful overnight stay.
